About Download Sizes
What are Download Sizes
When you choose to download a digital copy of of a photograph you'll be offered one of two sizes. Original or High. So what exactly do these mean?
Original
Refers to the original size of the photograph. These are the highest resolution images that I can offer. Original means that once I've taken and checked / processed the photograph there have been no other changes to its designated size.
I typically shoot at a resolution of 7028 x 4688 pixels, or 33 MP That is the maximum size of a picture. On occaison I will crop an image during processing. Although this reduces the size, the cropping exists to maximise the composition.
Choose original for the best image I can give you and to give yourself the most options should you choose to print the picture.
High
High is a fixed image size. All images downloaded using the High Option are created to a size of 10MP. Although not as detailled as a the Original size, this is still sufficient to create a high quality print of up to 51 x 76 cm in size.
DPI
On occaison you may need to know the DPI or Dots Per Inch setting of the image. It refers to maximum resolution of the image when it is being printed. All images on this website are set to a DPI of 300, unless individual circumstances have prevented this. This is a frequently used standard for high quality printing.
